She Wore Gray Like the Rain

When I saw this quote I immediately thought of my maternal grandmother. Anna recently mentioned a blog post by Amy Johnson Crow and combining the stories with the photos. I'm almost done with my heritage project (if one can ever be done), but it's lacking some of my recollections of the members. Love how Adryane includes memories and reflections on her heritage pages. Without the memory or reflection it's just a photo that has little meaning to future generations.

Process
An artsy paper from APP Radiant was used as the foundation of the page. The image was extracted. More contrast was added using the levels adjustment tool. The image was duplicated and using the artistic filter, a poster edge was created (blending mode changed to hard light). This added some grit to the image. A sticker outline was added. The rain drops in MM Rain 1 were recolored using the Hue/Saturation adjustment tool. Ruled Lines and brushes were layered behind the image. Word art, heart stitches, dimensional embellishments and journaling were added to complete the page.

Thank you for looking!
This is very Adryane-ish and totally awesome and your reflection adds so much. Such a mixture of memories. Love the title.

a wonderful composition and story! I love the way you used the purple to reflect the story. Did anyone our age have a smiling grandmother? I certainly didn't (although my grandma did laugh when watching the Three Stooges sometimes); it must have been the times.

Well told and illustrated. A beautiful peek inside your journey.I like the complexity of your background and what it might tell.

I feel like I know her as she is so much like someone in my own family. You have done a wonderful job of bringing her to life for us.

Yep, my cranky granny was the sameI swear she hated kids, even her own. But I loved that yours made a purple skating outfit...perhaps there was a young girl hidden inside. Adore your insightful and poignant design.
