I love photos from the past and the glimpse they give us to what life was like back then. I dont know if you can buy second hand tires these days, but I remember my Dad buying recaps for his fancy expensive cars he owned in his lifetime. He said recaps were just as good as new tires. He must have been right, they always stood him well.

Photos: Public Domain The tire shop photo was taken in 1940 in Texas. I admire how he hung his tires in such a neat and tidy fashion on his building. That takes some talent. I couldnt do that hanging pictures on my wall.

Process Notes: After Instagramming the road photo to make it look like an old postcard with a gradient map, I brought it in on solid paper 2 resizing it.

I brought in two cactus stamps for both sides of the road. I positioned them outside the photo and lined them up with the scruffy vegetation along side of the highway in the photo. I recolored them and gave them a little bevel and emboss.

From there I brought in the FotoBlendz, resizing and positioning, then clipped the b/w photo to it. I blended the mask to Multiply at 100% opacity and left the photo on Normal. I duplicated the photo and set it to Color Burn at 26% opacity.

After moving in the new UrbandStitchez Sun, I used the yellow body from MM chicks for the center of the sun. Over it I stamped a brush from the Palette. Underneath I used a couple of glows, blending them. I duplicated one of the glows and placed it over the black and white photo along with a light leak, blending both of those.

Using many artsy transfers as well as transfers from the Palette, I played around with them, resizing and rotating, blending some and leaving some alone. I also used a lot of brushes, recoloring and resizing.

Early on I had typed the title, moving it around the layout to see where it would fit the best.

Then finally I placed the stitches and yellow button, duplicating and lining them up. I was going for an art journaling kind of page since the kit lends itself to that. It reminds me of my collage creating days and I love that.
