Journaling:
17,000 acres of the Flat Tops Wilderness surrounding Trappers Lake were burned in 2002 due to a lightning strike. Because of the Wilderness Act of 1964, all firefighting crews could do was watch it burn. I thought the jumbles of dead trees were beautiful in a rugged sort of way.
