I think about how much Mom & Dad would have liked a place like this. It was full of stuff,
obviously antique, decorated to within an inch of its life. We were on the third floor, up some very narrow stairs. The ceiling under the dormers was slanted, and along the space were at least half a dozen old chests. On one was a soft skin-like rug, and on it, in the afternoons, was a gray tabby, happy to be scratched,
luxuriating on the rug. The breakfast rooms were dark and covered with plates, trophies (as in mounted animal heads) and knick-knacks in every inch of space, yet it was all clean and thoughtful. Along the halls and stairwells were prints and paintings, several of the famous Pinocchios Corner, and one of a cute border collie that reminded us of Cher.
