Rise & Shine

My daughter took photos of the traditional foods they ate in each country they visited last summer, this is their English breakfast. I dont think they ate it at Brighton Pier, but I wanted a photo that showed what country this breakfast represented. No nasty carbs at the start of the day to bog you down in England!

Notes: Knowing I wanted the large photo to be the background, I turned it into a creamy black and white photo and used the Cutout and Halftone Pattern filter on it and placed it on solid paper 2. With the Gradient Tool, I blended out the bottom of the photo. I then blended the photo to Linear Burn with a fill opacity of 45%. This brought out the wonderful textures in the background layer on the edges.

The artsy edge frame was brought in and the photo clipped to it and using a shade from the big photo to recolor the artsy edge.

Art strokes were placed between the photos, as well as brushes from the palette at the top of the page and underneath the right edge of the food photo. A transfer was placed at the left edge of the page over the large photo and blended to Color Burn.

Bringing in word art for the title and underneath the title. I used the Blend Ifs on the title after recoloring from the photo and blended to Linear Burn. I also used the Blend Ifs on the caption next to the title.

I placed parts of the MM Birds on the page as well as the coffee beans from the palette. The fill opacity was turned down to 52% on the birds in the sky and Linear Burn was used on the bird with the line to blend into the texture. The threads were placed next to the bird. That finished this page of breakfast in England.
Very good choice of background image! Looks like a healthy way to start the day.

now, I'm hungry, dang it. love how you've perfectly showcased their breakfast.

a very cool way to present! I like how the background is faded with touches of color from the breakfast (ugh, full English breakfast, I remember getting that once in London because our hotel messed up our reservation and was compensating us with full breakfast, and I couldn't eat a bit of it, but I'm a picky eater :))

Wowzers, that is certainly a big meal to start off the day. Love your process notes and fab design!!

This is so lovely... I love the blended background and well I love everything else too!
