{RESOLVE} April AJ Challenge Week 1

The week 1 challenge has been posted. Our April word prompt is RESOLVE and I was inspired by one of the inspirational thoughts that Susie posted for this week. She said "Reflect on a time when your determination helped you overcome an obstacle. How did it shape you?" I immediately went to the day after Chuck's death when we had to go to the funeral home to sign the papers. I was pretty numb, but with my inner determination and the presence of my family, I got through it. I didn't even realize my grandaughter, Ava, had taken these pictures. I never thought I'd want to see that place again, but now I'm glad she took these pictures. The first picture is obvious, the second picture on the left side was of me signing all of the papers and on the right side, Ava and I holding hands.

Oh Cheryl what a beautiful layout. This shows your resolve so beautifully. I'm glad Ava took the photos for you. You have woven the photos and elements so beautifully and putting them in the journal is brilliant. I love the wings half covering the paperwork. Signing the papers to set Chuck free. What a beautiful story of a hard day. :heartpumppink:

Tracy, thank you so much for your wonderful comments and as always, you "get" where my heart took me this week. That was such a difficult day, for sure, and I had lots of support with me. When I saw that particular inspiration from Susie's post, I KNEW I had to scrap that day. I'm SO glad Ava took those pictures, but they're very depressing to see, even after all these months. That day was dark, cold and dreary, which shows in that first picture. As hard as it was to scrap this, it's part of the story. :sad2::brokenheart::brokenheart:

But Cheryl, look again. Look at the strength and love that is in those photos. :heartpumppink: Look at the devotion and support. Yes, it was a hard day, but it is no longer dark. Thanks to Ava you can look and see what you couldn't then, love, strength, family. It is part of the story, and I am glad you have it to tell, but I also see the other side, the love and support.

Oh my goodness, you are so right, Tracy. I got so immersed in this that I worked on it for two days on and off. I felt like it was a story that I needed to tell and now I can include it in my grief journaling pages. Yes, thanks to Ava. :hug2::heartpumpred::heartpumpred:

Cheryl, this is an amazing LO! The situation was depressing, but your LO is not! I know that it was a very difficult time for you, but the way you scrapped it there is so much light and love mixed in with the bold reds and greens and Chuck's smile is so infectious and a delight to see. I can imagine how his smile affected everyone he came into contact with.

Thank you for your wonderful comments, Char. Yes, Chuck's smile was so infectious. When he entered a room, he lit it up. He was so kind, too. That day was terribly depressing, and I haven't been ready to scrap it, but after a year and a few months, I'm so happy that I have these pictures. :heartpumpred::heartpumpred::heartpumpred:
