The journaling reads:
With restrictions in place and no PPE available, internet exploded with make-your-own-face-mask videos. My home-made masks were not perfect, but they served the purpose and were more comfortable than just a scarf. Soon we were ready to shop, and the world-wide joke of the year was that never in our wildest dreams had we thought of entering a public place wearing a face mask and a pair of latex gloves... Surreal times... Face masks were mandatory even outdoors in the streets.
We cooked a lot, on-line with family and on our own. Michal searched and found a recipe for Din-Tai-Fung style rice and insisted we try it, and soon we had a new family staple. Joe suggested home-made burgers (buns included) and those turned out great too, as did tvarohová pizza.
On April 13, my parents celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. My mom was supposed to visit us shortly afterwards so we could go to Rome - the trip which had been planned and paid for months in advance. Needless to say, neither of those trips happened. The daily news was nothing short of devastating and there seemed to be no light at the end of the tunnel.
School was all over the place, teaching was done in form of assignments and self-study. There was talk of online sessions and half of the teachers were so opposed to it, they penned a letter to the parents explaining why they refused to have lessons not in person. We all know how that turned out.
