Sometimes we must let go of people, places and things even though we harbor good memories
or care about them if it turns out that they bring a toxic element to our lives.
I've know her for over 15 years and letting go of the relationship which at one time
brought me happiness and joy was difficult, sad and emotionally draining.
I struggled with the decision for a while because I wanted to be there for her
while she was going through some rough spots in her life but when someone believes
all of her problems are not her fault and always blame others (including me) and
specially when someone thrives on drama and toll it is just impossible!
In the middle of all good things happening in my life, I am letting go of a friendship
that was not healthy for me.
I believe I was honest in expressing my feelings to her and even though she was clueless
about it and thought I was completely off base and out of line, she would have another tool with
which to evaluate her future friendships.
The beauty of "growing up" is the process of learning.... Of embracing the idea of letting go
and accepting that it takes as much or more courage than holding on.
I've learned that some people are meant to be on your life for a limited amount of time
and that sadly not everyone deserves the title of friend.
