Wildfires in various states, most notably California, are nothing new, but this summer, more than 85 major fires are burning up and down the West Coast, from northern Washington to Southern California. For a few days, the blazes were so pervasive that here in Michigan, 2300 miles away, we experienced eerie red sunrises and sunsets due to the smoke and ash creating a touch of haze.
