Rainy Season

Usually our Octobers are bright, warm, sunny days with brilliant autumn colors, but this year, much of October and November have been rainy. The colors have been just as gorgeous and lasting longer than normal, maybe due to the rain, I dont know. I dont mind however, I love the soothing sound, the fresh smell and the cozy feeling it gives me. Occasionally the clouds will part and show a beautiful blue sky and the fresh snow on the higher peaks of the surrounding mountains. I just as soon have the snow stay up there. You dont have to shovel rain.

Process Notes: Choosing solid paper 2 for its color, I placed the photo along the left edge of the page and brushed away the harsh edges with one of AnnaBlendz brushes. I duplicated the photo two more times and used blend modes Color Burn, Soft Light, Pin Light and a diffuse filter to soften the look on the third copy of the photo.

I slipped the tan solid paper 5 under the photo and resized it from the top and bottom, not worrying about proportions.

Underneath the photo on the left edge, I used a transfer and overlay from the palette and blended it to Hard Light and leaving the overlay on Normal blend mode. I also slipped in the celebrate word art peeking out of the right edge of the photo. The transfer was to give the impression of the tree in the photo reaching farther up the page and the wetness of the weather. I also added a tree stamp under the photo, recoloring it using a color from the photo, to give the allusion of the photo reaching up the page.

Using the different strokes brush and the orange color in the palette, I stamped lines along the top and bottom of solid paper 5.

I created the title, distressing it with the same brush and using another font, I dated the page. Over the title I placed the multimedia arrows.

Above the photo layers, I added the artsy transfers, using bits and pieces on the right side and over the photo. Then I added the MultiMedia Rain, using the psd file, moving the clouds and stains over the tree, duplicating the drops and positioning them and the art strokes. I also used another word art to cover the red door of a house that was a distraction along the left edge of the photo.

Another overlay from the palette was used along the middle of the right edge, a stain brush recolored from the palette to farther enhance the tree. Finally I brought in the leave, berry twig and stitches, placing them on the page.
So much depth and richness! We need rain here ... Gorgeous artwork!

Love the horizontal design and especially the wordArt highlighted in red.

Great intensity of color, love the way you repeated the white in the raindrops with the title.

The colors, the raindrops! all so wonderful. I love how you were able to capture the feeling of a cold, rainy day so perfectly.
