Another template album spread for my (huge) travel book. I used Artsy Transfers to texture the background, and couldn't resist enlarging that big anchor button from the Inclement Artplay Palette to drop in the centerfold.

Journaling

We missed the puffins the last two times we visited Iceland, but this time we were right in the middle of nesting season. We booked passage on The Puffin Express, an old oak boat with a shallow draft that would get us in close to Akurey Island, where the puffins return year after year to lay their eggs in burrows in the rocks--about 60% of Atlantic Puffins breed in this area. And what a puffin party it was, with lots of squawking drama as other seabirds tried to steal the puffins catch before it was delivered to the nestlings. While puffins arent yet endangered, they are listed as vulnerable because their population is steadily decreasing, which is why I am always appalled when I pass restaurant sign boards that include puffins or whales (or reindeer for that matter) as part of an Icelandic Platter. Smoked puffin with blueberry Brennivin sauce? No thanks, Ill pass. But returning to the story, after being drenched by the rain, we were happy to head for our daily coffee break at Reykjavik Rost, which has an excellent view of the old harbor. In Stockholm we had happily adopted the habit of fika, the daily Swedish coffee break that is more about slowing down, socializing, and appreciating the good things in life than it is about the coffee. Fika had become a daily ritual in Europe, and by the end of our trip, we had also picked up the habit of daily skyr. Now that we are back home, were still enjoying both, even though the skyr here isnt the same. We still havent been able to source our favorite--sey-- but are making do with Icelandic Provisions and Siggis. Flexibility is the key, --Reykjavik, July 20, 2018
Oh Laura, this is just wonderfully wonderful!! I love your story about your outing, and happy to know you attended the Puffin party! They are so cute. And, I love the idea of a break in the day to socialize and slow down...enjoy life!!

Beautiful layout! Love the orange and gray, and your serious rain hat

Adore how you've captured your adventure. Being raised in a Swedish family, I know coffee is vital to life.
