Prickly Pear Cactus

Prickly Pear Cactus

When I moved from the lush greenery of Connecticut to the desert of Arizona, I did not understand the beauty of the barren landscape. It took a few years for me to see its subtle colors and allure. Now I'm in love with desert when in blooms. Anna's new brush set, Cactus No. 2, once again reminded me of its charm. And of prickly pear margaritas!

Process notes:
I opened solid Paper No. 2 from ArtPlay Palette Meadow and then placed solid Paper No. 3 on top of it using the blend mode of lighten at 45%. I stamped brush No. 3 from the new brushset Cactus No. 2. I rasterized the layer, locked it using the transparency button, then colored the cactus varying shades of green and the fruit a dark fuchsia. I need a base to make the cactus stand out, so I added brushes and transfers from APP Meadow, layering them on top of each other until I was happy with it. I added a white frame to further emphasize the cactus art. Final touch was a transfer of a grid from APP MetroGrafitiits one of my favorites to add dimension and subtle graphic impact. Added the title and done.

Thanks for looking!
You have quite the list of previous residences.... I am impressed. This is a wonderful, subtle artsy layout.... just right!!

Gorgeous! Love the use of the grid and framing to give more dimension to the page! It's the colors and smell of the desert that I love.
