Journaling reads: As a freshman, Rachel tried out for the girls La Crosse team at Poway High. Poway High always had a very competitive La Crosse Team, and she felt she would have some tough competition at tryout. She was thrilled when she made the Junior Varsity Team., and began to play defense. It was coach Betsys first year at Poway High, and although the girls struggled the first few games, when they went to their all day clinic of High Schools competing from all over Southern California, they won their first game, which turned them around. Their final win/loss by the end of the season was pretty respectable, and I believe they learned a great deal about the game and competing. In the end, Rachel decided she didnt like La Crosse as much as she thought she would, and decided not to continue in her sophomore year.
