Journaling:
Probably the most photographed spot in Rothenburg, evidenced not only by our collection of photos, but by the ever-present crowds of people all trying
unsuccessfully to get pictures of the building without crowds of people. This was the Plonlein, named for a carpenters plumb line, but anything but plumb. This spot was also the
inspiration for Disneys 1940 animated film, Pinocchio. It was a wonderful collection of steep-rooved, half-timbered crooked buildings, and the Sieberstor Tower, accented with a fountain grounded by pretty pink geraniums.
We bought a watercolor print of this picturesque area as one of the few souvenirs of the trip, so significant was the impact of it as a memorable site.
