Pages 192 & 193 Dad's Military Album Vol. II

These books are a redo of the books I did for my Dad back in 2004. When I did the first version (the "real world" version), I asked my siblings to write a letter to Dad that I included in the timeline for when they were born. My brother John is a "lefty" and his handwriting is not really readable. In both versions, I used a handwriting font for his letter.

John's Letter:
Dad,

I may not have had much growing up, but you gave me the world. This perhaps is my greatest blessing.

You took me from the west coast to the east coast, to the south as well as the northern most state, all the while showing me the differences and similarities of the country. You took me to a foreign land where I learned that the world is full of many different people. I learned to respect people for who they are, that there is no need to hate someone or something just because theyre different. All most people wish for is peace and a place to live.

Though your military service you taught me to live my life with honor, honor for my family, honor for my country, to honor myself, and to honor God.

You not only taught me traditional values, but you show me those values everyday. I inherited your level-headedness for figuring things out and Mom's good looks.

I am honored to be your namesake. With two sons of my own, if I do half as well raising my own children as you raised yours I will have succeeded.

Without you there would not be a me. Thank you for the life you gave me.
Love your son,
John

My Journaling:
A common experience for military personal is not being able to bear witness to significant family events. Our family was no different. With Dad in Alaska working and securing housing for us, we waited in Santa Rosa at Grandma & Grandpa Schindlers. Just a couple of weeks after Dad left John was born on the 15th of December. Ten days later would-be Christmas. Easter would also pass before we were to see Dad again.

Love the rich dark background and how it makes the b/w photos show! Great idea to have family members write letters!
