Once upon a time before computers and massive theme parks, there were small family-run roadside attractions. One such park was Story Book Land. It was located about 25 miles south of Washington DC on Highway 1. Story Book Land was based on the Mother Goose nursery rhymes and fairytales. The park was designed and built by Delmar Tice. Its theme was “The Magic Forest of Make-Believe.” The roadside attraction boasted more traffic than a nearby truck-weighing station.
