The brand-new Elmendorf NCO (Non-Commissioned Officers) club held its grand opening on 8 April 1960. Pat & Jack attended the event with Faye Gillespie and her husband. Until the demise of the military rank clubs, they were the center of social activity for military personal. They were a place where personal could go and mix with their peers. Married couples would go for date nights. Wife’s groups would meet at the clubs. Kashim underwent a renovation in 1968 at the cost of $600,000.00. The renovation included the addition of the Alaska-themed façade to the entrance of the building. The back of a postcard from 1968 lists the statistics for Kashim.
