Journaling reads:
Let me see if I can get this story straight. It deserves to be preserved for posterity. Griffin (then age 18) arrived home one day with a sheepish grin. That could only mean one thing. He had done something wrong. Again. In his hand he was holding his first speeding ticket. He was clocked at 51 mph in a 35 mph zone, a block from home. Family rule: If a kid gets a ticket, he pays it AND he pays Dad three times the amount. You have to hand it to Griffin. He really tried to come up with a plausible excuse so he would at least not have to pay his father. It didnt work, but it was a good story. He was driving home, obeying all traffic laws, when he simultaneously noticed a car in his rear-view mirror that was following too closely and a dead armadillo in the middle of the road ahead of him. A large vulture was eating the armadillo. Griffin did not want to hit either the armadillo or the vulture and damage Peters mini van, nor did he want to be hit by the other car. Whats a guy to do in such a situation but put the pedal to the metal? Did I mention there was also a HUGE log in the middle of the road? He skillfully dodged all four obstacles. Actually by this time there were only three; the car had disappeared! While he was looking for the car, he did not see the sheriff who had seen him, hence the ticket. Besides having to pay a hefty fine (and his dad), he was also required to attend eight hours of driving school, where he was surprised to see some other kids from our church. Unfortunately the class was taught by his original driving instructor who took the ticket as a personal affront. He spent much of the eight hours yelling at Griffin and throwing stuff at him. To date Griffin has not received another speeding ticket.

OH MY!!! This is HILARIOUS!!! :) I love the photos of evidence and the "huge log" with the arrow pointing! I cracked up so hard. Good thing his lesson was learned. I will have to remember that rule for my two boys! hehe. Love the layout!
