Old Highway 395

Journaling reads: Although there are historic portions of CA Highway 395 that can be found in Poway, they is not driven, and are just historic spots. Still I find it incredible that it use to run through San Diego County, all the way up through Mammoth Lakes and then to the Nevada, Oregon, Washington, ending at the Canadian border. The remnants of the old Highway run parallel to the current Interstate 15 freeway within San Diego County. In Hesperia, you start the drive on 395, and it leads right to our favorite vacationing destination of Mammoth. Within California It parallels the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, passing the highest point in the contiguous US, as well as the lowest point. It travels through high desert, lakes, the ancient bristlecone pine trees - the oldest trees, dry lake beds, hot springs, the once massive Owens Lake, now a dry lake, many volcanos, and miles of land hardened by lava, my favorite spot, Mono Lakes, and even Yosemite before leaving California, and entering Nevada. I would love to someday, travel its whole length to see the wonders along this road.

The process: The small photo I made a sepia tone layered, blended and masked. Under this photo, I have a variety of color transfers from a variety of artplay kits. I framed the photo with a ScriptTease frame, then added a title above, and my journaling to the right. The bottom portion of the page has a textured lace paper. On the top half of the page, I used a FotoBlendz Canvas Overlay, and attached the large photo to it. On top of that photo, I added the map, changing its color to a pale beige. I added one of the Find My Way Edge Overlays perfect for a travel page, and also added the text WordPlay, masking most of it out, only allowing a hint of it to be seen. I finished the page off adding a fotoglow to the corner of the smaller photograph.
