Old Barn

I loved 'mrshobbes' inspiration layout with all its elements, and it was so fun lifting the page. I did not adhere to all elements, but put my own twist on the page, but I love that at times a pages becomes a quest for the mimicking of different aspects of the inspiration piece. It pushed me somewhat outside of my comfort zone, which is ALWAYS good, as I am amazed how much I grow as a scrapper when I do so. Thank-you MrsHobbes for your inspiration piece Mamas superpower. https://ozone.oscraps.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29686

Journaling reads: I adore old building. I think it may be because I love history, and any old building has a great deal of history behind it. It is so romantic to think about the lives that this barn touched. The stable land, on which it stands, was willed to the City of San Diego with the understanding that it always be used as a horse stable, but so fragile are the boards of this barn that it is no longer used, for fear that it collapse - it is shored up on one side where it has already begun to tilt. Although it is on the historic preservation list, there is no money for restoration, so it continues to decay, and I fear that one day I will find that it has totally fallen to the ground. I treasure this old barn for its history and its rustic beauty, and with my own familys history at Canyonsidel, having ridden there for many years, cherish as well, my own history with it.

Fonts: Little Insect, My Type of Font

The process: Sometimes a layout is just fun to create. Being a lift, it was kind of like a puzzle, finding the right elements to add to mimic the inspiration page. I began with the neutral cardstock, and went searching for the right clipping mask. I attached the photo to the clipping mask, and used blend mode darken for the mask. I then began playing around with adding some fotoblendz, which had an irregular edge, and a watercolor look. These were placed under the photo, and I made them white, and softened some up to allow the kardstock to show through a bit. I then added some of the more colorful tranfers on top of the white fotoblendz, but under the photo. With the blendmode of the photo clipping mask on darken, it allowed the color to show through. I played around with the opacity of these transfer so as to not overpower the photo. I added the MultiMedia Documents underneath, allow it to show through. I used elements from more than one of the Multimedia documents, and recolored the heart as well. The MultiMedia document that I chose had text on it, and since it was going to be placed where the strip of text was going to go, I used that portion of the document as a clipping mask and attached a neutral paper to it. I added the journaling strip, and placed it on blend mode color burn, which allowed the journaling to be able to be read no matter what color was under it. I lowered the opacity of the text layer so that it did not overpower the page. I added the title, placing it on blend mode Hard Light, and also brought down its opacity. I added the elements, and an edge overlay, which I changed to white.

Wonderful page. Love that photo and your choice of background paper.

stunning I love how you used the fotoblendz to get a more irregular edge . Must follow your technique step by step and see what I end up with. thanks for the description

I'm a Barn Fan too. Your page is stunning, and I LOVE the way you did the journaling.
