I was so excited to get this picture of you. Its so rare that you stay put. Once you see me grab my camera, you, like the rest of the family, run away. But today was different. You just laid there looking at me. Looking at me with those big beautiful eyes. Watching me, as I watched you. I snapped away, knowing that you would leave at any minute, but you didnt. I didnt realize how strange that was, until now. I sit here looking at this photo. You look so very old, and so very sad. What is it that you are thinking? How are you feeling? What can I do to help you? I know youre getting older. You will be thirteen next week. People keep telling me that small dogs can live 15 to 20 years. Hope I hope that is true for you because I couldnt imagine our life without you. I love coming home and seeing you run over to us with your tail wagging. I love how you curl up next to me and then fall asleep. I love that you seem to understand me better than anyone else. I love that you love all of us unconditionally. You are so much more than a pet. You are family. So dont leave us yet. Our time here together is not over. For now, come sit next to me, let me rub your tummy. I hope you know that you are so loved.
