This is my dad's mom. My grandfather died when my father was 4 years old from throat cancer.
My grandmother died when I was 10 years old, I don't have many memories of her anymore. One memory that has always stayed with me is that she always gave me a few cents when we went home, she always said here child these are my last cents. And I always thought that was so pathetic that I always put the money back on the cupboard, because I was afraid she wouldn't have any money otherwise.
Love this photo and your story is so funny. I would have done the same, and do wonder even now what made her sound so poor. In our family it was always very real, so I'm thinking she loved you a lot and just didn't know how her words would come across.

Yes i wonder now what made her so poor, i think she was poor. But in that time a hug or a kiss wasn't that easy i think (can't remember a hug or a kiss) but the gesture to give me money was indeed her token of love. And I remember very well how my other grandmother came to tell me that she had passed away and that I had to cry a lot.
Beautiful layout of a "fading memory." Most of us have a memory like this. My grandma mostly spoke Slovenian so I couldn't understand her, but she always made me laugh

Oh... and you put the money back for her! That's so sweet! My grandmother use to give us pennies too.... what up with the pennies? I love the page. It a wonderful way to memorialize your dear Grandmother. Share her story with family and friends. Time goes by too fast not to sit back and reminisce sometimes!
