The more I garden, the more I enjoy my flowers. When I started, I started
with herbs and vegetables. I had a few flowers mixed in but not many. The
bleeding heart was a pleasant surprise. We moved in the fall and did not
know what there was. All we remembered was that the yard was mostly
neglected. We dug out a garden spot that first spring. There was a small
raised bed beside it. It was our plan to level the bed and make it part of
the garden. Then the bleeding heart grew and bloomed and our plans changed
a little. In a narrow bed along the fence I planted herbs. Mostly perennial
herbs. There were daylilies growing along that fence ans I added a few other
lilies. Then we added a pair of hanging baskets by the back door. Each year
the garden changes. The vegetables and herbs are still an important part
but now so are my flowers.
