Mrs Belmont's Farm/Anna Lift

1911 Mrs Belmont had a vision to create a farm where girls could live and work hard, earn wages while learning how to do a man's work. Within 3 days 210 girls made up their minds that they wanted to be farmers. They came from many different social classes but for the most part were women of education.

How very interesting! I have never heard of Mrs. Belmont and her farm, I will have to look her up. I adore this whole page, the photos are really endearing. I can't take my eyes off the page. Lovely story and page.

Great story. I wonder if there is a book about this. Awesome page...love the girls lined up...and the chickens. Love chickens.

Mrs. Belmont was a crackerjack! I like that back shot and how it reinforces the story with a real feeling of solidarity. The whimsical letters and roosters make me smile.

What and interesting story and just the best page to tell it. Great photo and I love the chickens!
