When we were young, my grandparent's home was by the railroad tracks. It is long gone now in the name of progress. We loved the soothing clickity clack to put us to sleep along with the occasional mournful whistle. Sitting on the porch swing, eating strawberries dipped in sugar, we would try to guess if the next trail passing by would be a freight train or a passenger train. My grandfather loved the trains and would take us on long walks by the tracks and keep us spellbound with the adventures of his youth. He would often place a penny on the tracks and wait for the train to go by and find this flattened copper piece. What a treasure! What memories the trains evoke.
