James Beard Awards Red Carpet

A page about preparing for a very exciting event for my daughter—attending the James Beard Foundation's Award Ceremony. Eva's spouse was nominated for Best Chef--New York State, which, in the Food Scene, is like getting nominated for an Oscar or Grammy. The kids are mission-driven and do it their own way and I am proud of this recognition, but I have always been immeasurably proud of them. It is pretty cool to walk a red carpet.

This layout is very simply, a throwback to my love of blending with the AnnaBlendz brushes. To start, I blended the photo into Artsy Paper #1 with the blending brushes, then added the journaling and title. I pulled in the butterfly, ribbon, and hummer embellishments, as well as the red button and two Button Threadz (not included in the minipalette), next. Since I had two areas of red/orange, I was very happy to use the Artsy Transfer that comes in the minipalette to create a little red triangle, and I also used some of the transfer/ovrelays from the minipalette to enrich the background. Then, as a last touch, I added orange, silver, and pink FotoGlos from my stash to highlight my daughter's fabulous gown.

Bravo, bravo, bravo! For the recognition, the gown, the page! Gorgeous blending and a stunning composition!

What a great event in their mission-driven journey. I think their hearts and souls are in the right place. The dress image is divine and says alot about "presentation". May their journey lead to aspiration and happiness. You must be so proud.

Very exciting for them! The dress is beautiful (love her hair, too). Fabulous blending and use of color!

One of my favorite brownie recipes is by James Beard - back in the early 70's when they were printed in the newspaper.
I remember--we had recipes in our local newspaper too. Miss those (and the local newspapers, which sadly are all gone around here).
