journaling:
"Wendell" at Dad’s. I visited Dad for what would be his last Birthday with us , May 2012, Wendell as usual was out waiting for us to fish for him! These memories of the Great Blue Heron always make me smile!
Fabulous page. Great Blue Heron's are spectacular birds with all the different feathers and colors. They even walk gracefully. We have them visit our pond in Florida nearly every day and I love to see them. I love all the little Heron details you put on this page. I cannot read your journaling so I assume it explains the photo.

Thank you so much.. I posted the journaling above..
Here is a different note: We named the GBH's all "Wendell" as we figured there would not be any neighbors named that.. originally my parents called them Charlie and when they moved into the house, the neighbor next door was named that so we had to come up with a new name.. I got "Wendell" from the Country Bear Jamboree at Disney Anyway over the years we had so many.. one was trained so well he would stand at the screen door every night at 5pm waiting for my Dad to fish for him after Dad came home from work. Over the years we had many, but as soon as they saw the fishing pole come out. they were "Johnny on the Spot"!
My Dad lived on a canal on the Banana River in Merritt Island (east coast)... these GBH are smart and funny besides graceful Thank you again for your sweet comments!
Thank you so much!! Yes a very special bird.. There were many at the house and we would sit out on the dock in Dad's backyard and catch fish for them. It was really funny to watch. My hubby would take it off the line and throw it on the lawn, the GBH would stab it with it's beak and then flip it up in the air to catch it and then swallow it Most of the time we caught him "goat fish" from the canal, and we would watch the GBH get annoyed if we caught a cat fish or blow fish as we would toss those back in the canal.
Now when I see a GBH flying overhead, I see it as a sign from my Dad. (There is more to the "sign" but I will save that for another time.) Hugs and thank you!
