This photograph of 6 little girls are all cousins from the McElveen/Moore family of South Carolina. I was lucky enough that a cousin took the time to research and pull together the family history, going as far back as colonial life in the 1700s. These are children of my great aunts and uncles. The McElveens began their own school for the many children of the McElveen/Moore clan that lived in Sumter, South Carolina. The photograph was taken in 1922.

The Process: I began with the gorgeous background paper from Annas new ArtPlay Palette Enroute, which I reversed. I added the photo in the curled photo frame. This photo was a black and white book printed photo, so it was made up of tiny dots. I used Gaussian blur to soften the photo and used blend mode Luminosity attaching it to a blue textured solid paper from EnRoute Sampler. This gave the photo the blue tint, which I dont usually do for a heritage page, but the blue in the new kit was too gorgeous. I added brushwork from a variety of kits, along with elements, both under and around the photo. I added the textured overlay, changing its color to a soft yellow. I also added a border to the right side of the layout, from ArtPlay Palette Scholarly, under that border, I added a transfer from ArtPlay Palette PlayOUT changing its color to the soft yellowish brown this I blended under the Scholarly border. To add to the heritage feel of the page, I added the scripttease family brushes, blending them along the right edge.
