life_changing

my journaling reads:
I wasnt there when it happened. I was back at the hotel with Jo. You and Pete had hired mopeds and decided to go off and explore the island. It wasnt until late in the afternoon that I got a phone call from the hotel reception, I dont recall what was said, but I do remember getting into a taxi and being driven to the small local hospital. The facilities were limited, but at the time I didnt think this was a problem, I thought theyd patch you up, give you an invoice and send you on your way. It wasnt until the following day, when you still werent able to feel sensations below your neck, that I began to realise something much more serious had happened. I wish Id phoned the insurers earlier, but when I finally did make the call, they reacted so swiftly and which such decisiveness, it was impressive. Within a few hours, a nurse and doctor were flown over to meet us at the hospital. A private ambulance transferred you, me (and all our holiday luggage) to the local airport where we boarded a waiting Learjet to be medevaced to Singapore. On arrival, another private ambulance transferred us to the Elizabeth II Medical Centre and within an hour of arriving, you underwent a MRI scan that showed youd suffered a compression fracture of your 5th cervical vertebrae. In lay-mans terms, youd broken your neck.

Thanks for looking / reading!

eek Sue, what a harrowing experience. Thank goodness for the swift reaction of the insurance company.
Nice clean design

Wow Sue! What an impressive page! It leaped out of the gallery and I had to read the story. Perfectly scrapped. How frightening that would have been!

This is beautiful..the page..the story..and I want to hear more...the rest of the story! What a beautiful page for what had to be one of the most scary and stressful events in your life! Hope he was able to recover!

Love the clean LO drawing you directly into the photo and story - beautiful scrap of a harrowing story!

Oh my goodness. Sue. When did this happen? This is so scary!
Is there a happy ending ................. ?!

even though I knew this, reading it gave me the shivers thinking how wrong it could have all gone and that cropped photo makes it a stark reality, documented perfectly and a great design Sue.
