Life Lesson

For the Mscraps May journaling challenge: http://www.mscraps.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6451

Well boys, it has been almost one year
since Dad moved out of our Gwelup home.
I have kind of got used to the 3 nights apart from

you
even though I miss you so much still.
But I am getting used to it and I think you are too.

But when you come back to me you tell me all
about the new this and the new that Dad bought.
You tell me about the wonderful new

house he is
building in the wonderful Gwelup where your friends are.
You tell me about the XBox Live he has, about the
XBox

Kinnect he has, about the 50 inch TV he has
- not to mention the 100 or so TV channels he has.
Plus I hear about his computer that

you use all the time.
Then in the next breath I hear about the lovely
takeaways he buys you - the McDonalds, the
Pizzahut takeaway

pizza and the Subways And the lollies he buys you from the English Lolly Shop!

So when you come back to me, you get home-
cooked

food - served with salad most of the time.!
You get a maximum of 2 hours screen time
- being xBox, TV, DVD or computer.
we go to the

park or you play in the huge back garden.

All of this of course is not much fun.
Not like at Dad's where he gives you everything.

Even my TV, DVD player and Xbox are broken!

But even though you moan about it all, I hope you can
see that really I am looking

after your health.
I keep telling you that it's up to me (the mum)
to give yo
Oh Suzie! That is tough. You know you are doing the right thing. But it's hard when your ex is not on the same page. I love that soft collection of healthy veges at the bottom. Beautiful page.

wow what an amazing page!!!! you are doing the right thing!! and your boys as they get older they will see that you give them love over possessions...and that is what is more important!!! their father isn't going to be able to buy their love for him....one day i hope their father realizes that!

What a GREAT page, OMG such a long journaling, a very impressive journaling so familiar to me, I think that I can feel what you feel that is very intense! I wish you all the best what the world have to give, don't forget, your a GREAT MOM!

Stick to your guns girl because they WILL realise in the end what you were doing for them, believe me I know. Love this non-photo page.

This is SO how my mum said she felt through my childhood, that my dad was always the good/fun cop and she was the bad/boring one. And yes, my sister and I DID realise that she was doing all that she did for us, for our future. We DID recognise this (although perhaps at an age slightly older than your boys are now), we DID love her for it, and as adults we realise that we loved her more for the boundaries that she set which grounded us than the chaotic freedom our father offered (albeit for 6 hrs once a week, back then). We learned to take advantage of our dad, get him to buy us things, purchasing our love, but our mum didn't have to do these things, she had our love anyway. Unconditionally.

Your boys will see this in time. And when they do, have them read your wonderful LO.

Scrapbooking at it's very best, Suzie. Hope it was cathartic.
