The holiday we celebrate...I am Jewish and lived in Israel for 30 years. All this time I saw Christmas on TV, in the news, maybe you could feel it in Jerusalem or Nazareth, but in Tel Aviv- nothing.
I celebrated Hanukkah all the years with my kids & family, it is a happy holiday too! But then, in 2000, I got married to an American and moved to USA...and WOW! there was Christmas there alright!!! I was so impressed by the way the people lived it, the craziness in the stores
the songs playing all the time in radio & TV, the decor in the houses,
the streets, the all buildings...WoW! I was once on Christmas time in Paris, France- but nothing to compare...it seems that only the American can make it so big, so great. So, I decided to enjoy both worlds in a way, I tried a real tree for 2 years- nah, too messy...I decorated the house inside and out for 2 years- nah, too much work...so I stucked to the presents tradition, it was fun, clean and harmless except to the budget. Now, we left the States few years ago, here its a tiny-tiny version of Christmas, you dont feel it so much...but here we have a part of the family that is Christian so we have diner together and have a good time...although the gift part...not so good here!
