Fay Wray (1907-2004)In 1923,Wray appeared in her first film at the age of 16.After appearing in minor film roles,she was selected as one of the "WAMPAS Baby Stars" (1926).She attained international stardom as an actress in horror film roles,leading to many considering her as the first "scream queen".She starred in the film with which she is most identified, King Kong(1933).According to Wray,Jean Harlow had been RKO's original choice.Wray was paid $10,000 dollars to play the role.She wore a blonde wig over her naturally dark hair.The film was a commercial success.She became the "Beauty who charmed the Beast".After the success of King Kong,she appeared in more minor film roles and on television,leading up to her final role in 1980.(King Kong is a 2005 remake of the 1933 film of the same name)
