Mom told me the story this afternoon and I remembered the old photo I had of Grandad and had to get the story down.
Journaling tells how my Grandad would never ride in a plane my whole life because he was afraid of landing (he'd only ever parachuted out of planes). This past week, he told my Mom the story of what it was he did when he jumped out of those planes: he was carrying ammunition to the soldiers in WWII. He parachuted in blackest night into France behind enemy lines.
3 years ago he DID fly in a plane, my father had to get him from Texas to Seattle. By then though, Grandad's memory was fuzzy enough that he didn't fuss and came along with my dad.
