Notes in Photoshop Elements 14
I started with a template, because it's the best way I know to develop a rich background with very little effort. After turning off all the layers, I arranged the images on top of the layer stack--a photo of me altered using the Quick menu in Photoshop Elements (one of the choices in the Seasons filter category) and the copyright-free picture of the dove. The picture of me is blended using multiply mode and inverted masking. I added a couple of the new door brushes next and the background (Artsy Paper #4).
From there I switched the layers of the template back on, modifying each as needed by clipping things on or changing blending modes or resizing or repositioning. I also dragged transfers and overlays over and under various components of my composition. I approached the finish line with Multimedia Sun #5, enhanced with the birds and clouds of Multimedia Sun #4.
The last touch was another Artsy Paper (#2) set at the top of the layer stack on multiply mode at very decreased opacity, just for some more distressing.
