Created in gratitude for U.S. veterans, their service and sacrifice, and that of their family and friends. November 11th is the U.S. observance of Veterans Day.
My great uncle was a decorated veteran of World War II and I was present at his funeral with military honors, standing behind his wife, with his brother and nephews. He was laid to rest on a very rainy, muddy Appalachian day, and this gorgeous paper by Joyce Paul from her Fallen Echoes Bundle reminds me of that whole experience, in the best possible way. It's beautiful.
To honor him and to celebrate, honor, and express my gratitude to all veterans, I decided to create this layout.
I selected two images and extracted the veteran from those images. I placed one directly on the background paper and overlaid the other onto a kraft tag. I created a cluster of flowers that reminds me of a pair of angel wings or of a heart or both and placed it in front of the veteran. I added the doodled star, leaf, and heart, and the paper strip with the sentiment "Every season leaves a mark." Then I added the title and journaling text and styled them similar to the doodles.
