Hands of Compassion, Heart of Love

Paisley Something Paisley Something by Bekah E Designs
Journaling:It takes a special kind of person to be a nurse. Mom was that kind of person. She was truly caring and compassionate. She was a good listener,
empathetic, skilled. Even as a child, I could tell that she was well-loved by her patients.

Mom always worked the night shift, 11-7. It fit her schedule as a mother so well. She would be home before we had to leave for school; was home in the afternoons to supervise
homework and activities, and we were in bed before she left for work.

It would be unheard of now, for a parent to leave her children asleep in the home, with just an older brother 'babysitting' all night. It was a different time. Mom was so consistent in her schedule. I can remember so well how she would take a nap before work, get up around 9, and leave the house at 10 promptly. I remember so many of those nights when
she would take projects for our benefit with her to work, such as: hemming, mending, sewing.

I surely sensed the honor of her chosen profession, as I was always proud to say that my mother was a Registered Nurse.
