on this place(square) was situated a small chapel of the XVIIth century dedicated in Santiago, which was demolished at the end of the XIXth century, it is still possible to locate(localize) her(it), thanks to the granite pavement which marks the location of the former(old) chapel.
The place(square) of Santiago is now a friendly place at any time of the day. We can walk and take advantage of diverse ants bars / restaur-and of their terraces. In the evening the place(square) is transformed and is invaded by the youth of the city and the visitors.The former(old) palace of the county of Guimares
It is also necessary to underline Domus Municipalis, an impressive monument which was the palace of the county at the end of the XIVth century. On the photo we can see the hall which is supported by five Gothic arcs, six plate glass windows and a statue on the facade of the building which symbolizes Guimares.
