Gratitude Challenge - Day 37
Journaling reads:
Today I am thankful for:
* The news that my nephew, Eric, is safe and okay. We don't have cable or satellite TV (so we watch dvds) and my internet opens to my email as my home page instead of to a page like MSN or Yahoo where I might see headlines. So I was unaware, when my sister called this evening, of the events yesterday in Afghanistan. I didn't know about the helicopter crashes; she told me and then said that our nephew was not involved. But, Eric's friend, Kyle, was one of the casualties. He's known Kyle since he began his Marine training 9 years ago. He will accompany the body home tomorrow, go to California then to New England with Kyle's wife for the funeral.
* That Eric is leaving Afghanistan a few weeks early -- though the circumstances are very sad, at least he will be out of there.
* For my husband who loves me even when I can't figure out why he does it.
* For "Orange Cat" who is sometimes a real pest but at other times she is the most cuddly of kitties; she came and curled up on top of me this morning and slept with me for a few hours. That was a nice quiet way to start my day.
* For good friends.
