I loved this photo of my dd and her best friend clowning around. They have this thing about large black rimmed glasses, and usually one or both have them on when they get in front of the camera. I also think it is funny that my dd isnt afraid of making faces for the camera (I call this her old man face), but she wont let me take her photograph. This was taken while they were volunteering at a concert.
Journaling reads: You girls have so much fun when you get together. You love hamming it up for your friends and the camera, donning those big black framed glasses. I hope you both are able to keep that fun - loving attitude your whole lives, as all too often, we lose that as we reach adulthood. You two complement each other well - definitely BFFs.

The Process: I have to say I have a difficult time with this layout because of the colors in the photograph. After trying to introduce too much purple and red, I decided to tone it down, and I believe it looked better. I started with a basic solid background paper changing its color to add a bit of purple tint to it, added a fotoblendz mask, attaching the photo to it. I then added some transfers and artsyPaint, making them pale purple, placing them in the same line as the photo. I added some brushwork, changing it to red. I then added some elements to the lower right of the photo. The word strip, brad and definition from this weeks new artplay (Truth) were perfect for this photo. I then added the title, using two fonts that were fun and different. I finished off by added a variety of edge overlays, including one with red, and then added the skinnylined overlay as well. Once done, I felt it was missing something, and decided to repeat the photo, changing the blend mode to luminosity, and decreasing its opacity. Once flattened, I played around with it in RadLab.
