Another photo of my grandfather for my Heritage album.
Journaling (sorry for the bad translation): After weeks of hopes and deceptions when he had to sell his motorcycle to survive, on the 23rd May 1930 he boards on the Cuba? as a coal-trimmer thanks to a mecanician he got to know in a caf in the harbour and with which he made friend.
The beginnings on board are not glorious: sea-sickness exhausts him but he recovers quickly. On the 15th June, after a ceremony well-known from the sailors, he receives a certificate for his first crossing of the Tropical line. The crew finally lands in Vera Cruz (Mexico). Hell always have a marvelous memory of this town.
Later on, when back home, he sometimes plays the banjo: he practises or sings while playing?
