final flight no.1
i was outside cleaning up today when i noticed a few lifeless butterflies.
for months i have been enjoying watching lots and lots of butterflies in the yard.
they were the happy result of my lack luster gardening and the prolific growth of our passion fruit plant.
it made me sad to see that the butterflies were coming to the end of their lives and dying.
while i was looking at them the wind picked up a few and carried them off.
that gave me the idea for this page (and maybe some others). i got my camera out and took a few photos.

this is a combination of techniques. first, i took out the background, then i used the distort filter and added some waves to the image. i also used the watercolor filter and, finally, a little of the smudge filter. for some of the areas, i copied part of the image then pasted it on a separate layer and used the warp tool to change the shape. this helped even out the rough edges. i added the different strokes and the tattoo transfer to give the wings a little more definition and shape for their final flight.
