Driving into the park the next day we saw a small herd of elk on the hillside above the valley as we often would. We chose the Fall River entrance every day, even when we were headed for Bear Lake. We also saw bighorn sheep and a herd of deer out in the valley.
Note the velvet on the bull elk's horns.
