(I am the one in the photo looking down.)
Journaling reads: Sometimes I come across a photo that is in such bad shape, yet it is so precious to me. I remember the story behind the photo, and see beyond the blurry, poorly deteriorated image. It is the memories and the stories that are evoked by the image. I remember how important family is, and I remember how my mom always dressed her daughters so impeccably for the holidays. I am guessing that this photo was taken in 1959. It is of my older sisters Sharon, Cousin Marilee, myself and my little sister Toni, probably taken in front of Aunt Maries house (Marilees mom). I dont know how my mom did it, but she always sewed us matching dresses and matching coats for holiday occasions, just as her mom did for her and grandmother would have done for her mom. It is so hard to believe that she took on the task of making the Easter coats, got the perfect hats, and added flowers to them to make certain they would match. She also bought us matching black patent-leather buster brown shoes, and we wore socks with lace trim. You cant see the dress, but from the flare of the coat, I am certain that Toni and I each had dresses with full ruffled slips.
Time in the 50s and 60s - so different from time of today. It seems so foreign to me now, but those memories remain. This photo, no matter how badly deteriorated it may be, hold those special memories.
