Journaling: Researchers came to weigh, measure and band the eaglets. The eaglets were not excited about the idea and the parents definitely were not either. The parents circled around the nest screaming at the researchers. They never came close enough to touch the young woman, but they were very, very vocal about it. Once the babies were returned to the nest and researchers out of the tree the parents returned immediately. I am told that it is very unusual to have 3 eaglets survive. This pair of bald eagles have had 3 sets of 3 eaglets live to learn to fly. So, they seem to be very good parents. We are unable to keep track of them once they start flying out of our little valley in the fall of each year. Photos are taken with my camera by researcher up in the huge White Pine tree their nest is in. May, 2013
