The background consists of three layers. The bottom layer is a patterned tan paper. The layer above that is a multicolored artsy paper. The blend mode here is Normal like the bottom layer. However, I slid the underlying layer slider to the left until it added color to the background w/o hiding it in a way I liked. I then placed a pink paint layer behind the mountains and once again used underlying layer slider to blend it with the two lower layers.
