The 5th (and last) day of our bike ride across Florida.

45 miles, Sanford to Titusville
A pleasant day of easy biking. We began with a beautiful ride through parks on the Spring to Spring Trail, including a side trip to check out the Gemini Springs. We biked several miles under the shade through a string of parks and pretty neighborhoods.
When we entered the East Central Regional Trail, we knew we were on a railtrail, lots of straight miles. Not much shade, so we were glad to be there in January, and not August! At several bridges we stopped to look for alligators in the swampy water, and a couple times we found one.
Lunch was quick and on our feet, as none of the trailheads had any picnic tables, so we ate off the back of the trailer. Then back in the saddle for the last few miles! Titusville has done a fantastic job of guiding the trail through the town, so it was easy to follow the route and find Space View Park for a look across the Indian River toward the Kennedy Space Center. Unfortunately, the trail isn't complete all the way through Cape Canaveral, and biking isn't allowed in the late afternoon because of traffic, so we ended our ride by crossing an impressive bridge over the river and loading up our bikes at a park on the causeway. A shuttle back to Orlando for the evening, so people could catch early planes the next morning, was followed by a congenial "good bye" dinner at a nearby restaurant.
