In the Midst of Winter

I wanted to create a stark page depicting the lack of color and dim light during this time of year, so everything is black and white with the light leaks representing the winter light. When you live in the mountains, the days are extremely short.

Notes: Bringing in the photo, turning it black and white and clipping it to the mask, I chose solid paper 1 as my background. Underneath the photo I placed the mountain stamp and recolored to navy and turned down the opacity to 73%. Just above the background layer I added the sparkle edge overlay.

Below these layers I used the light bits and pieces of the artsy transfers dispersed throughout the page.

Positioning the tree along the left edge of the rustic cabin, lining the bottom up with the tape from a transfer and adding the dimensional elements. The light leak was added and blended to Multiply.

Above the photo the snow spray was placed and a style used on it. The title was added, using Blend Ifs and that finished this very simple page.
Fabulous blending and such lovely subtle use of colour! I am imagining the cosy inside of the chalet with a woodburning stove, candles and lots of snug blankets #hygge :)

You definitely achieved what you wanted. I really love the whole thing, but the light leaks give the LO a sweet magical feeling of something good to come.

Beautiful winter scene! Love the brush work and moody colors of dusk!

Love the snowy, realistic mood of a winter day without sun. I'd be snuggled up with a fire and cup of hot cocoa.

I could hunker down in that cabin for sure. You nailed the light, and the stark elegance of winter.
