Long Walks

Journaling: The river is low, hushed. My footsteps through the pungent sweet leaves, sounds loud to my ears. The clean freshness of the autumn air fills my lungs. Being in the moment, this very moment . . . alone, is all that matters.

Notes: Using solid paper 1, I started by dividing the page with the roughly edged and sand scratched brushes, drawing a line down the page. I butted up the layered fotoblendz to the line, resizing and clipped the photo to it, also resizing. I duplicated the photo and blended to Overlay.

Underneath the photo, I placed a Cider transfer, also butting it up against the line I stamped down the page. I left everything as is, except I experimented with different blend modes for a couple of the pieces in keeping with the colors of the rocks in the photo. I also brought in the leaf from another transfer and placed it over the photo at the left edge and blended to Color Burn. I used the art strokes from the transfer and put those over the photo.

Now it was time to flesh out and add the details. Bringing in the word art for the title, I took out a word with the Polygonal Lasso tool, then typed the rest at the bottom of the photo. I typed the title three times and placed along the bottom of the photo and blended to Hard Light. Underneath the transfer and photo I stamped the traced leaf, and placed the stitching over the photo along with the leaf from Cider, which I blended to Color Burn. I stamped the painted leaf along the bottom of the photo and blended to Color Burn.

After adding the journaling and dimensional elements I thought the layout needed a little something something, it just didnt seem finished to me. So in the layers panel, just above the background, I placed the hipster plume photo blends and clipped the APP Sol solid paper 5 to it and blended the mask to Overlay and that made all the difference. It affected all the blended layers above it in a wondrous way. Its very subtle, but made all the difference. I could call the page finished.
A good long walk will do that. It's soothing. As is this composition. I relate to it poignantly
