Journaling:
Every house has had a bag cabinet. In San Jose, it was a double cabinet. Cleaning out the contents of this cabinet this week, I realize that many of these bags were moved (that Hotel Pulitzer bag is over 30 years old), and some accumulated in the last 7 years here. Bags used to be more useful; plastic bags used to be recyclable. Now theyre mostly just trash. I feel bad about adding to landfills, but theres nothing for it. San Jose actually charges 10 cents for a bag at most stores (usually paper); San Francisco has legally banned plastic bags. But sometimes you need them. And sometimes they have cool logos and graphics. And sometimes they have memories. I sorted through hundreds of bags. It was harder than it should be. There were memories of gifts and shopping trips and travel to near and far places. I saved a few to be donated to local dog parks for use as poop bags. The rest I stuffed in the trash bin. Funny thing, I must have stuffed too hard, for some ended up stuck in the bottom, like they didnt want to leave.
I did that recently, but unfortunately my bags didn't have the exciting places you've been. No Harrods for me. Wonderful idea for a spread. Love it!

Had to laugh at this...I still have my Disney plastic bags. The other ones hang around in my bag depot for a while and then are repurposed, usually as high-end trash bags. But it's definitely a mindful process, bringing back memories. Very cool concept for a spread, celebrating humanity. (That American Girl bag brings back a ton of memories, too....)

Thanks for this great idea! I have a collection of bags from cooking stores in Paris and London which I formally used to decorate a blank wall in my kitchen. Such a clever way to keep the memories.

This sounds like a fun thing! We have a place where plastic bags go to be recycled. I always know fresh ones will appear so I let them go easily. But Fort Collins up the road, where we shop a lot, is talking about banning them. If they do, maybe I'll need a bag cabinet

awesome page! love all the bags photos - such an everyday thing so glad you scrapped and shared!

I adore your memory page. Austin banned plastic bags about four years ago, I love it.
