The Best is Yet to Come

More photos Autumn captured of her friend Skylar for her photography class. With these photos Im sharing they are both building their portfolios. Skylar hopes to model during college to make some extra money and Autumn is building her photography portfolio; she is going into graphic design. And last but not least, I get photos to use in my layouts in which I can create stories around. This I hope is a marriage of vintage with modern.

Process Notes: I used an action on the railroad track photo then applied a pattern overlay, merging the layers and brought it into a new 12 x 12 file, using solid paper 2 from the Palette as the foundation. With the rectangle tool, I drew out the rectangle across the page and clipped the photo to the rectangle. I blended the rectangle to Linear Burn to bring out the textures and marking of the foundation paper and left the photo on Normal blend mode. I duplicated the photo and used Screen blend mode on it.

Bringing in, resizing and positioning the photos of Skylar, I duplicated each of them and blended. The copy of the sunglass photo was blended to Hard Light and the other with the overnight bag, to Overlay. I also used a warm glow on this photo, blending it to Overlay and 63% opacity.

Underneath and between the photos of Skylar and the tracks, I brought in the transfers from the Palette, using them as is. The art stroke overlays were placed above the photos. I also used brushes from the Palette throughout the piece.

The stitching, button, word art, tape and postage stamps were placed, with the postage stamps blended to Linear Burn. I added a stain at the top left corner going down over the photo a little.

Going back to the railroad photo, I duplicated it again and with a reverse layers mask and AnnaBlendz brush, I extended the tracks at the top and bottom from the rectangle mask.

I had typed out the title earlier, moving it around while building the layout to see where I liked it the best and used the Blend Ifs on it. And that completes another layout.
Love the retro! The tracks are awesome and the colors so crisp. Great design!

a perfect mix of vintage and modern - love how you split the photo and the train tracks! how it works out for the girls!

Marvelous design--the color parts against the neutral parts and the fracturing are all so cohesive. The stamp "tape" mimics the suitcase...I just love details like that!

She's going to be a gorgeous model! Your granddaughter has the eye! Beautiful!

Love what you did with the photo, your background is gorgeous, love this Art page!!

ditto what Marleen said. those photos are fabulous. perfect background too.
